View from Rockland Harbor Hotel

This is one of a series of paintings based on a single photograph that I took from the window of the Rockland Harbor Hotel in Rockland, Maine. Sunset had turned the ocean baby pink. I love the contrast of soft pinks and purples with industrial infrastructure.

In this image, I focused on the pavement across parking lots, roads, and sidewalks. The same material, faded to different shades over time, reminded me of a patchwork quilt.
