Far and Bright

Conventional wisdom says to use cooler, more muted colors for the distant areas of a landscape and brighter, warmer colors for the foreground. This painting inverts that expectation. Based on bright, far-away fields glimpsed from the window of a train in rural Denmark.

Painted with a limited palette of Payne's gray, green gold, cadmium red light, and titanium white.
